Does Hebrews Tell us to Keep all Laws given to Moses?
This post was made in reference to a comment posted to me concerning the video on WorldNetDaily by Richard Rives – JUST THE FACTS – dated November 11, 2014 “How Do You Know if You Know God?”
Commenter on WND abbygirl08 said she believes she’s in agreement with what I’ve said about Hebrews 10:26 and “sinning willfully” but goes on to ask if I also believe the author of the book of Hebrews is directing us to keep the remainder of the laws that were given by Moses (which God gave Him).
If you mean Leviticus 18, yes.
But not all the laws given by Moses apply today.
There are laws that are binding under both covenants.
The Ten Commandments are the obvious ones.
It’s clear to me that God demands righteous behavior. The LORD required heathen nations – who were not Israel – to obey His righteous ways (laws).
God gave those heathen nations time to repent and the ones spoken of in Genesis and Leviticus 18 didn’t and the LORD destroyed them.
Genesis 15:16 “…for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.”
God sent Jonah to warn Nineveh (heathen nation) and they repented – God saved them because they turned to obey what was righteous.
“The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.”
