What is a Works Based Salvation?

This post was made in reference to  a comment posted to me concerning the video on WorldNetDaily by Richard Rives – JUST THE FACTS – dated November 11, 2014 “How Do You Know if You Know God?”

Works based salvation, let’s define it.

A laborer does work and is then owed a reward.
The employer becomes indebted unto the worker to pay what is due him.

The sinner’s work is that he transgressed God’s law / command and is due death because of God’s Law which states “the wages of sin is death”.

Tell me what work can the sinner do to earn the reward of life?

What law can be kept that will give him eternal life?
There is no such law.

Galatians 3:21 ”
Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid:
for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.”

Even so, if we attempt to come to God with a wicked mind and heart; God will not hear us the Bible says.

Psalms 66:18
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:”

Proverbs 21:27
“The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination:
how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?”

So then if we take a look at Romans 8 we will find that it is the carnal mind that cannot be subject unto the laws of God. Conversely that means that the spiritual mind is to be subject to the laws of God as the Apostle Paul affirms again in Romans:

Romans 7:25
“… So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God…”

Romans 8:4
“That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

1John 3:7
“Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.”

Romans 8:12-14
“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors,
not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:

BUT IF YE through the Spirit
do mortify the deeds of the body,
ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God,
they are the sons of God.”

Will the Spirit of God lead us to break His holy laws?
Will the Spirit of God lead us to behave ungodly?
